HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team will open up Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday, welcoming Shorter for a 2 p.m. contest at Charger Park. UAH enters the contest 4-6, while the Hawks are 3-8.

Saturday's contest will mark Military Appreciation Day presented by Qualis Corporation at Charger Park, and fans are encouraged to bring items for UAH's
David Spuhl who is currently deployed.

A year ago in PBC play, the Chargers went 3-3 en route to finishing second in the regular season, and the team then advanced to the championship game of the conference tournament before narrowly falling to top-seeded Montevallo.Â

The team will start conference play against a Shorter squad that has already surpassed its win total from a season ago when the Hawks went 2-10 including going 0-5 in PBC action.

This year's team is led by Alexander Hudgins who has 30 points from 24 goals and six assists, while Earl Marshall has a team-best 54 ground balls. Chasey Finley has seen the majority of minutes in goal for the Hawks, totaling 127 saves and a .488 save percentage.

Since dropping the first game between the two programs by a 24-8 score in 2016, UAH has won five straight against the Hawks, outscoring Shorter by a 90-21 in those five victories.

In last year's contest in the Rocket City, the Chargers were 19-2 winners at Charger Park in a game that saw
Brody Phillips tally seven points as he scored and added six assists.Â

Phillips enjoyed an immense amount of success against the Hawks last season, as he set the UAH single-game record for assists and points with eight and 12, respectively, against Shorter in Rome last year.Â
