HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team returns home to Charger Park for a three-game Gulf South Conference series against West Georgia with a doubleheader Friday at noon followed by a single game Saturday at noon.

The series was originally scheduled to begin with a single game Friday evening, followed by a doubleheader Saturday afternoon but rain in the forecast forced the change.

Saturday's series finale will be part of Alumni Day at Charger Park.

UAH enters the weekend series with West Georgia with a 17-21 overall record and a 9-11 record in GSC play, after most recently winning one-of-three at West Florida last weekend. Â

Landon Ezzell smacked his team-leading 10th home run of the season in the series finale at West Florida to make him the first Charger to post 10 or more home runs since AJ Walden's 12 round-trippers in 2018.

Ezzell's also the first Charger to post 10 doubles and 10 homers in 2022, as he is also one of two hitters in the GSC with 10 or more doubles and homers this season.

UAH's pitching staff currently boasts three pitchers with 40 or more innings or more this season, including
Connor Brooks (52.0),
Tyler Self (49.2) and
Kody Keiser (42.0).

West Georgia starts out the three-game series in the Rocket City with a 19-15 overall record that includes a 9-11 record in GSC play, after most recently topping Emmanuel in nonconference play on Tuesday by 11-6.

The Chargers are currently tied with the Wolves for eighth in the league standings at 9-11 conference records.

The Wolves offense features four hitters batting above .300 this season, led by Brody Wortham with a .390 average to go along with 40 runs, five doubles, eight homers and 28 RBI. The UWG pitching staff has a 6.09 team ERA so far in 2022.

UAH holds a 46-35 all-time record against West Georgia, with the Chargers taking the season series last year winning two-of-three in Carrollton on Feb. 20-21.

The Chargers continue their homestand after the series against the Wolves, as UAH welcomes Young Harris to Chargers Park Tuesday at 5 p.m. for a nonconference tilt.
