UAH Welcomes West Alabama for Final Regular Season Weekend

HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team wraps up the 2022 regular season at home this Friday and Saturday as West Alabama visits for a three-game Gulf South Conference series at Charger Park. First pitch for Friday is slated for 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Prior to Saturday's game, the UAH baseball program will honor departing seniors Connor Brooks, Jake Christa, Wells Deloney, Jeff Hunter, Kody Keiser, Dylan Murphy, Griffin Rivers, and Tyler Self.

UAH enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 22-23 overall record that includes a 13-13 mark in GSC play, which has the Chargers eighth in the conference standings.
 
The top eight from the GSC standings will move on to play in the 2022 GSC Baseball Championships from May 6-10 in Oxford, Alabama. More information regarding the 2022 GSC tournament.
 
Garrett Bodine has been the Chargers offensive leader again in the 2022 campaign, as he is currently atop the GSC with 51 runs scored and 68 hits while ranking in the top 15 in the league in batting average (.380), doubles (12), RBI (39), total bases (106), slugging percentage (.592), on-base percentage (.477) and steals (13).
 
So far in his career, Bodine boasts a .359 batting average with 139 runs, 36 doubles, seven triples, 16 home runs, 97 RBI, 82 walks and 39 steals. He rates in the top 10 in program history currently in batting average, runs, doubles, triples, total bases, walks and steals.
 
Senior Tyler Self has seen the most action on the mound this season with a team-high 62.2 innings pitched over 11 games to go along with a roster-leading 69 strikeouts. Self will finish his career as one of the most outstanding pitchers in program history with 47 starts, 277.1 innings pitched and 274 strikeouts.
 
West Alabama starts out the week with a 14-31 overall record and an 11-16 mark in GSC play, after most recently taking two-of-three from Delta State at home over the weekend.
 
The Tigers offense is led by Josh Bower with a .367 batting average, 15 doubles and eight homers, while the UWA pitching staff holds a 7.02 team ERA.
 
UAH holds an all-time series record of 43-36 against West Alabama, as the Chargers have won four consecutive games over the Tigers dating back to the 2020 campaign.
