Men's Basketball Opens Home Slate with Bill Penney Classic Friday and Saturday

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's basketball team opens its 2023-24 home slate with the Bill Penney Classic at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall that will feature matchups against No. 6 Lincoln Memorial on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Fisk on Saturday at 4 p.m.
 
The Bill Penney Classic will also include neutral contests between Fisk and Edward Waters on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in addition to Edward Waters against Young Harris on Saturday at 2 p.m. Reserved seating is available to purchase through Hometown Ticketing, and general admission seating is free courtesy of Bentley Automotive.

All UAH men's basketball home games and road conference contests will be streamed live on FloHoops for the first time in 2023-24. Fans can access promotional pricing in the GSC's FloSports homepage.
 
The Chargers come into the weekend's schedule with a 1-1 overall record after starting the new campaign last weekend at the South Region Crossover in Miami Shores, Florida, that included a win over Barry and a loss to No. 2 Nova Southeastern.
 
Transfer Tommy Murr – a native of Athens, Alabama – led UAH's offense with 36 points over opening weekend, as he put up a weekend-best 20 points, three rebounds and three assists against NSU on Saturday.
 
Luke Burnett eclipsed 1,000 points in his career last weekend with 34 points to his name during the two-game crossover event, becoming the 32nd player in program history to achieve the feat.
 
Head coach John Shulman is in his fifth season at the helm of the Chargers, compiling an overall record of 92-29 in his time so far in Huntsville. Shulman's squads have also been incredibly dominant on the team's home court, with the Chargers boasting a 51-4 record at Spragins Hall over the last four seasons.
 
Lincoln Memorial travels to Huntsville with a 2-1 overall record so far in the 2023-24 campaign, as the Railsplitters most recently topped No. 8 UNC Pembroke last Friday by a score of 71-69. LMU is currently averaging 78.0 points per game, led by Chase Rankin with a scoring average of 17.3.
 
Fisk comes into the weekend with a 1-2 overall record, following an 85-83 win over Wilberforce this past Saturday. The Bulldogs average 76.7 points per game, paced by Jayden Lockett at 19.7 points per contest.
 
After UAH's home-opening weekend, the Chargers look ahead to the start of Gulf South Conference play for the 2023-24 season at home on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. against Montevallo.
