HUNTSVILLE | The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee announced its first regional rankings on Wednesday afternoon, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball was ranked fifth in the South Region among the 10 teams under consideration.

Tampa leads the way as the top ranked team in the South Region with a 34-9 overall record and 28-7 record against regional opponents. Tampa is followed by West Florida, Rollins, and Montevallo in the top four.

UAH is in fifth with a 29-18 overall record and 26-14 record against regional opponents. Following the Chargers to round out the top 10 of the regional rankings are Valdosta State, Florida Southern, West Georgia, Barry, and Saint Leo.

The Chargers are set to play in the 2023 GSC Baseball Championships as the No. 3 seed beginning Friday at 10 am when they face off with No. 6 seed Shorter.
