Baseball Hosts Truman State for Three Game Series

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team is hosting a three-game series against Truman State this weekend with a doubleheader beginning at noon tomorrow. The series is the final three-game non-conference series for UAH this season before jumping back into Gulf South Conference play.

Admission to all regular season home games at Charger Park is free again this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

Most recently, the Chargers won a midweek matchup against Auburn Montgomery 10-5 in a non-conference tilt to improve to 8-4 on the year. UAH is fourth in runs scored this season as they have notched 99 runs through 14 games.

At the plate, the Blue & White are led by Carson Villalta in batting average as the senior has posted a .385 average this season. Six different Charger batters have knocked home runs this season, with Brock Butler leading the squad with three so far.

On the mound, Will Hotalen has led the way in innings pitched at 14.1, while Jacob Peters and Carson Herring are leading the team in wins with two apiece. Cory Hagood has posted five saves already in the young season and has yet to give up a hit in any of his relief appearances.

Truman State enters the weekend at 1-6 overall and most recently dropped a series against Washburn. Dakota Joggerst leads the Bulldogs in batting average thus far, with a .391 average through seven games. Zachry Schneider leads Truman State in ERA among qualifying pitchers, posting a 4.40 ERA in 14.1 innings.
 
After this weekend, the Chargers will travel to Tuskegee on Tuesday before a trip to Pensacola to take on West Florida in GSC play next weekend.
