Baseball Set to Host Four Games at Charger Park

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team is returning to Charger Park for four games this week, beginning with a midweek matchup with Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Chargers will then host Gulf South Conference opponent Montevallo at 5 p.m.

Admission to all regular season home games at Charger Park is free again this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

UAH is coming off of a 1-2 weekend against Valdosta State as they dropped the first two games and won the final game of the series 9-5 to avoid the sweep.

The Chargers are second in the GSC and 22nd in the nation in runs scored at 207. The squad has been led offensively this season by Merik Carter in batting average (.447), extra-base hits, and RBI (23). Brock Butler leads UAH in home runs this year as he has knocked four homers thus far. 

On the mound, Jacob Peters has thrown the most innings and is tied for the team lead in wins with a 3-3 record. The junior from Helena, Alabama, has pitched 33.0 innings and struck out 24 batters. 

The Warhawks come in with a 14-14 record and a 1-2 record in their most recent series against No. 25 Lee. AUM is led at the plate by Tyrese Rooks in batting average (.352) and runs scored with 28. On the hill, Ryan Slaten has been the top performer for the Warhawks as he has posted a 3.27 ERA in 33.0 innings.

Montevallo will visit Huntsville with a 8-4 record in GSC play and is facing off with Miles on Wednesday with a 16-10 overall record. The Falcons are third in runs scored in the GSC with 205 on the year. Connor Crowson leads Montevallo in batting average at .379, while Evan Liddie leads the team in runs scored with 28. 

The top pitcher for the Falcons is Gino Cozzi who has thrown 38.2 innings on the hill and has posted a 3.03 ERA with 36 strikeouts.
