Baseball Falls to No. 9 West Florida in Saturday Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PENSACOLA | The UAH baseball team fell in both games of a Gulf South Conference doubleheader against No. 9 West Florida on Saturday, dropping game one 5-3 and falling in game two 11-4. The Chargers dropped to 12-6 (1-4 GSC), while the Argos are now 11-5 (4-1 GSC). 

UAH and UWF will meet up for one more game tomorrow to finish the three game series at 1 PM.

G1: UWF 5, UAH 3

The Chargers grabbed an early lead in game one, jumping out 2-0 on UWF's Dalton Neuschwander after the top of the first inning. The Argos battled back to tie the game in the third, before taking the lead for good in the fifth inning and ultimately winning the contest 5-3. 

At the plate, UAH was highlighted by Caleb Mahan, Will Noles, and Carson Villalta who each contributed two hits in the game with Villalta recording one RBI with a double. Jackson Lindsey also contributed an RBI double.

On the hill, Jacob Peters got the start and went six complete innings as he surrendered four runs and struck out five. Carson Herring added one inning of work with one run given up and Tanner Giles held steady in his relief outing of one inning with no runs surrendered. 

G2: UWF 11, UAH 4

In game two, UAH kicked off the scoring yet again as they tallied a run in the first inning, but the remainder of the game went to the ninth-ranked Argos as they put up two in the bottom half of the first before adding six runs in the second. 

Merik Carter and Lindsey were the lone Chargers with multi-hit games as Lindsey had a double and two base hits with three RBI, while Carter contributed a pair of base hits. 

Will Hotalen got the start and pitched one inning while Trey Wright, Justin Perreault, and Aubrey Cleghorn finished the game off in relief appearances.
