HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team welcomes in a Gulf South Conference opponent on Friday and Saturday when they will face off with Shorter in a pivotal series for placement in the conference standings. 

The series against the Hawks is set to begin at 3 p.m. on Friday with Saturday's doubleheader starting at noon. 

Admission to all regular season home games at Charger Park is free again this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

UAH defeated West Georgia in a GSC series last weekend, winning the final two games of the three-game set 6-5 and 9-3. The series win was the first for the Chargers since March 10th when they defeated Delta State in a three-game series. 

UAH holds the second-best batting average in the GSC this season at .319 and are third in the league in total hits at 394. They are third in runs scored in the conference with 283.

Merik Carter still sits atop the GSC in batting average with a .431 average and ninth in runs scored with 40 this season. Carson Villalta enters the weekend with the league's 14th best on-base percentage at .479 and batting average at .362. 

Shorter visits Charger Park with the fifth-highest scoring team in the GSC with 273 runs so far this season. They lead the conference in stolen bases at 109 stolen bases with 36 more successful steals than the second-place team, West Georgia. 

Kobe Jones leads the Hawks in batting average with a .380 average, while Jacob Pajer is top of the squad in RBI and doubles. Alex Brodie is leading Shorter with eight home runs so far this year. 

Seth Crowe is the top of the conference in wins on the mound with an 8-0 record and three complete games. He has the 11th best ERA in the conference at 4.39. 

Following the weekend series, UAH will travel to take on West Alabama next weekend in a three-game series.
