4/23/2024 8:11:00 PM

Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. | The UAH baseball team won their final midweek game of the season in a high-powered offensive performance as they defeated UTSouthern 25-6 on Tuesday evening. The Chargers improved to 22-22 while the Firehawks fell to 15-28.

The Blue & White offense wasted no time getting started as they kicked off the game's scoring with a 10-run first inning, capped off with a Daniel McCary three-run homer that marked his first of the season.

The Firehawks scored one in the second, but UAH would tack on six more in the inning to extend the lead to 16-1, highlighted by a Carson Villalta grand slam that put his RBI total at six for the day.

Overall, seven UAH batters had multiple hits with Jayce Upton and McCary recording three each as Austin Reed, Hunter Tillman, Joey Caruso, Ian Reagan, and Villalta each had a pair of hits. Villalta's six RBI led the squad, while McCary contributed four. Hunter Nolan and Reed both had three RBI.

Eight pitchers combined to hold UTSouthern in check at the plate as they scattered six runs across the seven inning game. Collin Hollingsworth recorded his first win of the season appearing as the first reliever in the game as he struck out three.

The Chargers head back home for Senior Day this weekend when they host Union in a three-game series that will mark the end of the season for UAH.
