Baseball Welcomes Union for Senior Day Weekend

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team will conclude their 2024 season this weekend as they welcome in Gulf South Conference opponent Union on Friday and Saturday for a three-game series on Senior Weekend. 

The series against the Bulldogs is set to begin at 3 p.m. on Friday with Saturday's Senior Day doubleheader starting at noon. 

Admission to all regular season home games at Charger Park is free again this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

UAH won last week's GSC series against West Alabama as they snagged two road wins against the Tigers scoring 22 combined runs in the final two games of the series. Tuesday's midweek game at UT Southern showed the Chargers scoring 25 runs on their way to a 25-6 win. 

UAH has grounded into the fewest double plays of any GSC team this season with nine total, while Union has the third-highest number of double plays this year with 35. The Chargers rank third in team batting average (.319) and runs scored (341) while Union has surrendered the second most runs in the GSC (337).  

Carson Villalta enters Senior Weekend with the second-best batting average on the squad at .359 and is coming off of a performance against UT Southern in which he knocked in six RBI. The UAH all-time leader in hit-by-pitches also leads the GSC in the category as he has been plunked by opposing pitchers 20 times this season. 

The Bulldogs visit Charger Park with a 3-3 record in their past six games. Grant Ross leads Union at the plate this season with a .398 batting average with 10 home runs and 51 RBI. Eli Snelson leads the Bulldog pitching staff with a 4-5 record on the mound with four complete games this season and 53 strikeouts.
