NEW ORLEANS | The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its 2024 outdoor season awards, and the UAH men's track & field team was represented by
Sam Wilhelm as USTFCCCA South Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Wilhelm is the first Charger outdoor track athlete to win the honor since 2017.

The Knob Noster, Missouri, native earned his third and fourth All-American awards of the 2023-24 academic year at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a pair of top-five finishes in the 5,000-meter race and the 10,000-meter race.

He additionally was a First Team All-Gulf South Conference honoree at the 2024 GSC Outdoor Championships in both of those races as well, breaking the program record with times of 13:48.09 in 5,000 meters and 28:43.84 in 10,000 meters.

Wilhelm has earned a bevy of awards for his incredible academic year, including the GSC Commissioner's Trophy that is awarded to the top male athlete in the conference for 2023-24.
