Baseball Opens Up Gulf South Conference Play with Three Game Series Against Christian Brothers

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's baseball team is set to begin Gulf South Conference play this weekend as they host a three-game series against Christian Brothers on Friday and Saturday. Friday's doubleheader will begin at noon at Charger Park, with Saturday's game starting at noon. 

Admission to all UAH baseball games and all regular season games at Charger Park is free this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

The Chargers are returning to action after a four-game sweep at home against UMSL last weekend and hold a 5-3 record overall. CBU visits Charger Park with a 4-3 record on the year, most recently dropping three of four games against Northwest Missouri State. 

UAH is tied for first in doubles in the GSC this season with 16 and are led by reigning GSC Player of the Week Presley Walker in the category. Walker leads the league in doubles so far this year with four. 

Will Noles leads the Blue & White in RBI this season as he has driven in seven runs.

On the mound, Will Tarpley leads the Chargers in innings pitched with 11.0 and holds the best ERA among qualifying pitchers at 3.27. Tarpley has also struck out eight batters this year. Collin Patterson leads UAH in strikeouts on the hill as he has fanned 11 opposing batters. 

Christian Brothers is led at the plate by Sam Walker who is batting .500 with three doubles and two stolen bases. Jalen Smith has three home runs and a team-high 10 RBI this season. On the hill, the Bucs are led by AJ Gamboa who has pitched 9.2 innings and has not surrendered an earned run. 

Following this week, the Chargers will head on the road to face off with Lee next weekend in Cleveland, Tennessee.
