Baseball Hosts Valdosta State for Weekend Tilt, Changes Start Times for Friday and Saturday

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team is hosting a three-game series this weekend against Gulf South Conference foe Valdosta State beginning at 2 pm on Friday with an 11:30 am start to a Saturday doubleheader. 

Admission to all UAH baseball games and all regular season games at Charger Park is free this season, courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.

The Chargers are returning to action after dropping three games against Lee last weekend on the road and hold a 7-7 (2-4 GSC) record, while the Blazers come to Huntsville with a 5-9 (4-1 GSC) record.

UAH ranks third in the GSC in doubles with 25 this season while ranking fourth in walks as they have drawn 66 thus far. 

Presley Walker highlights the Charger offense as the senior is batting .421 and is ranked sixth in the GSC in the category while freshman Sean Lapinskes has the 10th best batting average in the league at .390. 

On the mound, Will Tarpley and Colin Patterson lead the Chargers in innings pitched, each with 19.1. Patterson leads UAH in strikeouts with 23 and ranks fourth in the conference. 

Valdosta State's lineup is headlined by Marcos Sevillano who holds a .467 batting average with four doubles, while Orlando Pena leads the team in home runs with three. Zac Dodson and Hunter Booth have both pitched 22 innings apiece for the Blazers and each hold a 3.27 ERA.

Following this weekend's series, the Chargers will head on the road to face off with Montevallo next weekend.
