Baseball Primed for Weekend Series Against West Florida as Start Times Adjusted at Toyota Field

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH baseball team is hosting a three-game series at Toyota Field this weekend against Gulf South Conference opponent West Florida beginning with a doubleheader at noon on Friday and a single game currently scheduled for noon on Saturday.

The weekend's forecast has adjusted the start times as the series was originally scheduled for a single game on Friday with a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Chargers are returning to action after winning a weekend series at Montevallo and a midweek victory over Miles on Tuesday. UAH currently sits at 10-11 overall and 4-8 in GSC play, while West Florida enters the series at 13-8 (9-3 GSC).

The Blue & White have seen an uptick in scoring in the past five games, as they have scored 61 runs in their last five outings. The Chargers have seen 11 of their team's 18 total home runs come in the last five games.  

Brock Butler is the reigning GSC Player of the Week for his performance last week as he notched three home runs and went 6-for-12 with nine RBI against Montevallo in the series win. He currently ranks sixth in the league in home runs. 

Colin Patterson snagged his first victory of the season in the series against the Falcons as the sophomore gave up zero earned runs in a six inning outing. The Lester, Alabama, native leads the Chargers in strikeouts and is tied for fourth in the GSC in strikeouts.

West Florida is headlined by their pitching staff as they have two of the conference's top six performers in ERA. Jacob Heath currently has a 0.75 ERA in 24 innings of work with a 2-0 record, while Dalton Neuschwander holds a 2.57 ERA and a 4-2 record.

The Chargers are set to travel to Pulaski, Tennessee, for a midweek tilt on Tuesday following the weekend series against the Argos.
