Box Score 2 NASHVILLE | The UAH baseball dropped a Gulf South Conference doubleheader on Friday against Trevecca Nazarene with a 9-4 defeat in game one, followed by a narrow 14-12 loss in the second game.
The Chargers fell to 19-25 (9-20 GSC) on the year, while the Trojans improved to 19-24 (14-15 GSC) for the season.
UAH and TNU will face off again in the final game of the series on Saturday at 1 p.m.
G1: TNU 9, UAH 4
UAH held a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the first inning in the first game on a RBI double from
Brock Butler and a RBI single from
Jackson Lindsey. TNU would tie the game up in the bottom half of the inning at 3-3 before taking a 4-3 lead with a home run in the second inning.
The Trojans went on to outscore UAH 5-to-1 over the final six innings of the game.
UAH had multi-hit games from
Will Noles and
Braxton Griffin as Noles went 2-for-5, while Griffin went 2-for-4 at the plate. Butler had the Chargers' only extra-base hit in the game with the double in the first inning.
On the mound,
Jacob Peters got the start and threw 3.2 innings while
Ty Hutto pitched 4.1 innings in relief.
G2: TNU 14, UAH 12
In game two, the Chargers were in control for much of the game following a three run inning in the second to put them up 3-2. UAH held a 10-2 advantage into the bottom of the sixth inning before TNU scored 12 in the bottom of the sixth to ultimately secure the win.
At the plate, six different UAH batters had multi-hit games, with Griffin, Noles, and
Luke Songy leading the way with three apiece. Additionally, five Chargers had two or more RBI in the game, with
Presley Walker,
Sean Lapinskes, Lindsey, Songy, and Griffin each driving in two runs.
