Track & Field Leading in Women's and Men's Standings After First Day at GSC Outdoor Championships

OVERALL RESULTS

CLEVELAND, Tenn. | The UAH men's and women's track & field teams started action at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with both the Chargers men's and women's squads ranking first in the team standings after a day of competition.

The first day of the outdoor championships were shortened due to sustained lightning in the area and action will resume on Friday at 7 a.m.
 
The Chargers first day at the GSC Championships was highlighted by an individual champion on the men's side as Malik Turner took first place in the long jump with a leap of 7.31 meters. 

Additionally, the Blue & White had second place finishes from Nathan Knox in the 3,000 meter steeple (9:01.52) and Rhett McDonald in the Hammer Throw (49.50 meters).

The UAH women hauled in a trio of second place finishes from Tamsyn Gibbs in the 3,000 meter steeple (11:13.44), Hailey Smith in the hammer throw (46.54 meters), and Jadlyn Debardlabon in the long jump (5.71 meters).
  
Day two of the GSC Outdoor Championships commences at 7 a.m. on Friday beginning with the decathlon and heptathlon events.
