HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The upcoming Gulf South Conference baseball series between the Baseball and Christian Brothers, originally scheduled to be played in Memphis, Tennessee, has been relocated to Huntsville due to expected weather conditions.
The three-game series will now be held at Charger Park, with Christian Brothers serving as the designated home team in all games. The revised schedule features a doubleheader on Friday, Feb. 13, beginning at noon CT, followed by the series finale on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. CT.
The series marks the start of Gulf South Conference play for both programs. Admission to all regular season home games at Charger Park is free this season courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.
UAH enters the weekend with a 1-5 record and will look to snap a four-game losing streak. Freshman Seth Staggs has led the Chargers offensively early in the season, appearing in all six games while batting .677, which ranks second in the GSC. Staggs also owns a 1.525 OPS with eight hits, including a triple, and has added two stolen bases.
Center fielder CJ Carson ranks third in the conference with eight walks, while freshman Gunnar Waldrop is tied for second in the GSC with four stolen bases.
Christian Brothers enters the series with an 0-4 record and is also seeking its first win after four consecutive losses. The Buccaneers are led offensively by Cayden Freels, who is batting .400 with a 1.600 OPS, including a triple, two home runs, and three RBIs. Jackson Licata has also produced at the plate, hitting .583 with a 1.282 OPS, seven hits, a double, and a stolen base.
