HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | After anchoring a strong defensive effort this weekend, University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse standout Will Bond has been named the Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

A native of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, Bond's honor marks a milestone for the Chargers this season, as UAH continues to make its presence felt throughout the year with standout individual performances on the defensive end.

Earlier in the week against Quincy University on February 23, Bond was a steady presence on the defensive end in UAH's 13-9 road victory. The defenseman recorded three ground balls and caused two turnovers, helping disrupt Quincy's offensive rhythm and limit clean scoring looks throughout the contest. His ability to win battles for possession and force takeaways proved key in securing extra opportunities for the Chargers.

Against Palm Beach Atlantic on February 27, Bond delivered a disruptive performance that kept the Chargers within striking distance throughout the contest. The defenseman caused five turnovers, setting a season high for the most by a UAH player in a game this season and matching the top single-game mark in the PBC this year. He also collected three ground balls, consistently applying pressure and forcing the Sailfish offense into difficult possessions.

Bond's five caused turnovers played a critical role in limiting Palm Beach Atlantic's scoring opportunities and sparked multiple transition chances for the Chargers. His physicality, positioning, and ability to win one-on-one matchups highlighted a defensive effort that helped hold the Sailfish to 10 goals in Fridays matchup.

Bond and the Chargers will face the University of Indianapolis at Charger Park on Saturday, March 7, at 12 p.m.
