Baseball Set to Take on Montevallo in Series Shifted Due to Weather

3/5/2026 4:00:00 PM

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The UAH baseball team will host Montevallo this weekend in a Gulf South Conference series at Charger Park, with adjustments made to the schedule due to impending weather.

The Chargers and Falcons will now open the series with a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Saturday at 10 a.m.

UAH enters the weekend with a 7-11 overall record and a 4-5 mark in Gulf South Conference play, coming off a five-game road trip in which the Chargers went 3-2, including a 13-12 victory over UT Southern earlier in the week. UAH will be looking to return to .500 in conference play during the three-game set.

Offensively, the Chargers have been one of the top scoring teams in the league, ranking fourth in the GSC with 8.1 runs per game. UAH has also been aggressive on the base paths, sitting tied for second in the conference with 41 stolen bases.

Caleb Mahan has been one of the league's top hitters entering the series, batting .404, which ranks sixth in the Gulf South Conference. Meanwhile, CJ Carson has shown strong plate discipline, leading the conference with 20 walks this season.

Montevallo comes into the weekend with a 6-13 overall record and a 1-8 mark in conference play, including a 1-7 record on the road and a four-game losing streak.

The Falcons earned their lone conference win of the season with a victory over then-No. 8 West Florida but have since dropped seven consecutive GSC contests.

Despite their record, Montevallo features one of the stronger pitching staffs in the conference. The Falcons enter the series with the fifth-best team ERA in the GSC at 5.50 and rank fourth in the league with 154 strikeouts. Montevallo also leads the conference in strikeouts looking.

The staff is led by Luke Holbrook, who carries a 2.10 ERA, ranking sixth in the GSC, while Zach Wyatt has recorded 32 strikeouts, the second-highest total in the conference.
