HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Baseball continues their homestand at Charger Park on Tuesday afternoon, hosting UT Southern at 3 p.m. CT in a midweek matchup.
Admission to all regular season home games at Charger Park is free this season courtesy of Alabama Credit Union.
The Chargers and Firehawks have already met once this season, with UAH earning a 13-12 victory on March 3 in Pulaski, Tennessee. In that contest, five Chargers recorded multi-hit games, including Jayce Upton, who finished with two hits, two walks, a stolen base, and four RBIs.
On the mound, Blake Saltzman earned his first career win, while Jack Doyle secured his first career save in the victory.
UAH enters Tuesday's game with a 14-20 overall record and has found success in midweek play, posting a 3-1 record, including the win over UT Southern.
Offensively, the Chargers have been one of the top teams in the Gulf South Conference, ranking second in the league in scoring at 8.4 runs per game while sitting third in stolen bases with 64.
Caleb Mahan continues to lead the lineup, batting .407, which ranks third in the GSC, while posting a 1.002 OPS. UAH also features several hitters coming off strong performances, including Taylor Bush, who tallied five hits, two home runs, and nine RBIs over the weekend, and Seth Staggs, who added five hits, two doubles, and six RBIs.
UT Southern enters the contest with a 21-16 overall record, including a 9-8 mark on the road and a 5-4 record in midweek games this season.
The Firehawks are led offensively by Zac Wilson, who is batting .432, leading the SSAC and ranking among the top hitters nationally. Cooper Phillips has driven in 38 runs, the fourth-highest total in the conference, while Anthony Pastrana has recorded 20 stolen bases, ranking third in the SSAC.
