Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Winning three games in a row for the first time since Sept. 2009, the UAH men's soccer team defeated visiting Ouachita Baptist at Charger Field on Sunday in Gulf South Conference action. The win moves the Chargers to 7-3 (2-0 GSC) on the season while OBU falls to 2-6-1 (0-2 GSC).
The game was a tight affair as the visitors played solidly defensively on the day.
UAH had the best scoring chance in the first half as
Felix Hjalmarsson nearly converted on a bicycle kick with just under eight minutes remaining in the period, but the game would be scoreless at the halftime break.
The match remained that way until Hjalmarsson was able to pick up his sixth goal of the season as he took a nice pass from
Oscar Leon and put it in the back of the net in the 65th minute.
The Tigers put on the heat after that point, firing off 11 shots and forcing
Kel Markert to make three of his five saves in the second half, but they were unable to put one past as the junior keeper registered his second consecutive clean sheet.
For the game, the visitors held a 15-13 advantage in shots, including a 5-4 edge in shots that were on goal. Additionally, the Tigers took nine corners compared to three for UAH.
A chippy affair, the teams combined for 24 fouls and two cautions were issued.
