Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Dropping a feisty affair, the UAH men's soccer team lost 4-2 to Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Charger Field. With the setback, UAH falls to 2-2 on the season while TWC moves to 3-1.
The match featured a combined 25 fouls, five cautions and three ejections.
The scoring started in the 7th minute as Luke Winter scored the first of four goals he would score on the day. His second came in the 24th to give the guests a 2-0 lead.
Cutting into the deficit in the 30th minute,
Mitch Wilson put a perfect ball to the foot of
Kyle Simmons who then blasted it to the right side of the net to make it a 2-1 contest. The goal is a team-best fourth for Simmons, while Wilson's assist marks his second to put him third on the team in scoring with seven points.
Winter answered, however, completing his hat trick just three minutes later in the 33rd minute as he was able to rocket a free kick fromd distance in for the score.
He added his fourth goal shortly into the second half, giving the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead in the 54th minute.
Despite playing a man down, the Chargers were able to pull within two in the 65th minute as the Chargers scored off of a corner.
Juan Carlos Salazar took the kick and
Felix Hjalmarsson headed it in for his third of the season to make it 4-2.
That would be as close as the Blue and White would get, however.
Kel Markert earned the loss for the Chargers to fall to 2-2 on the year.
Jordan Steelman – seeing his first action of the year as he entered two minutes into the second half – recorded the team's lone save, while Josh Leader stopped one UAH shot to earn the victory.
The Chargers will return to action on Wednesday when they host Montevallo for a 4:30 p.m. tilt at Charger Field.
