HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
In a rematch of two championship games from a season ago, the No. 3 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team will host Christian Brothers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall. The Chargers will look to build upon their 11-1 (4-0 Gulf South Conference) record, and the Bucs enter the contest at 8-3 (3-0 GSC).

The two teams met in both the final of the Gulf South Conference tournament and the NCAA South Regional championship a year ago as the Blue and White defeated CBU four times overall. Leading the group of Chargers that remain from last year's squad, Zane Campbell averaged 13.3 points while shooting 66.7 percent in the four contests.

UAH went on the road last week and picked up two strong victories in conference play as it defeated Valdosta State 79-77 and West Florida 78-75. Jaime Smith paced the team in scoring both nights, and the Gulf South Conference honored him as the league's Player of the Week for his efforts.

The Player of the Week accolade also includes the Dec. 17 and 30 games against Tennessee Temple and Tuskegee, and Smith was strong from beyond the arc during the stretch as he connected on 50 percent of his downtown attempts.

Ranking third in the nation in 3-point field goals made per game, Smith's performance – along with that of Ronnie Mack who ranks second in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage – has helped the Chargers hit 10 or more triples in eight consecutive contests.

The strong 3-point showing has aided the team's offensive output which has steadily improved through the season. Through the first five contests of the season the Chargers featured a scoring average of 67.0 points per game, but the team has averaged nearly 85 points per contest in the seven contests since - including the team's four games in league play.

The four wins for UAH last season has tilted the all-time series towards UAH by a wide 14-4 margin, and the Bucs have never won a game in the Rocket City.

CBU enters the contest with an 8-3 record including a perfect 3-0 mark in GSC play. Michael Drakes leads a trio of Bucs who are averaging double figures as he has tallied 13.8 points per game.

Live stats and video for the contest will be available at uahchargers.com, and the game will be carried locally in the Tennessee Valley on 97.7 The Zone.
