About the Chargers

DOMINATING FROM DOWNTOWN: The Chargers continue to lead the Gulf South Conference from beyond the arc as the team ranks first in both 3-point field goal percentage and 3-pointers per game, and the also is third and fourth in the country in those categories, respectively. UAH has six games with at least 10 made 3s en route to averaging 13.4 per contest, and the Chargers are shooting a blistering 45.2 percent from long range.
 
THIS TEAM LIKES TO SHARE: A characteristic of a Lennie Acuff squad is that the team will share the ball, and that has certainly continued to be the case this season as the team is averaging 18.2 assists per game on an average of 27.3 made field goals. The Chargers are 22nd in Division II in assists per game.
 
DEDRICK LEADING THE WAY: After earning GSC Freshman of the Year honors a season ago, Wayne Dedrick is turning in a sensational sophomore campaign thus far as he is averaging a league-best 21.2 points per game after scoring at least 20 points in four straight games. He has been terrific in conference play, scoring 26 twice, and he has hit a 3-pointer in seven straight games including burying 12 shots from beyond the arc in GSC action.
 
BLASI BEASTLY IN CONFERENCE PLAY: Also strong in GSC play has been senior Conner Blasi who is shooting 72.2 percent from the field in the team's three conference games, and he scored a career-best 22 points against West Alabama in the team's league opener.
 
GARDNER DISHING THEM OUT (AND DOING OTHER THINGS): Sophomore guard Greg Gardner has been strong at the point thus far this season, and he has been especially impressive of late with 40 of his 70 assists coming in the team's five last games including a career-best against West Alabama. He has also notched four games in double figures in scoring, and the Indianapolis native is second on the team in rebounding .

WEST FLORIDA
ABOUT THE ARGOS: West Florida enters play with a 1-7 (0-2 GSC) record, but three of the team's losses have come to ranked teams. UWF snapped a seven-game slide to start the season with a win in its last contest before Christmas, beating Central Washington in Las Vegas 77-73.
 
UWF LEADERS: Four Argos scores are averaging double figures in scoring led by Nate Johnson's 16.3 points per contest, and he is averaging a double-double on the season as he is also grabbing 10.9 boards per contest. An All-American a season ago, Ellis Young III is second on the squad with a 12.0 points per game scoring average.
 
VALDOSTA STATE
ABOUT THE BLAZERS: Valdosta State reeled off seven straight wins to begin the season – including three consecutive overtime wins – but fell in its last game before the holiday break, dropping a 72-59 decision on the road at Lee to now boast a 7-1 (1-1 GSC) record, and the team will continue GSC play at The Complex when West Alabama visits on Saturday.
 
VSU LEADERS: Monday's opponent is scoring 84.9 points per game thanks to five players who averaging double figures with Blake Justice at the top of the ledger with 15.3 points per game. VSU also features a player averaging a double-double as David Murray is averaging 10.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest.

Series History

UWF: The Chargers swept the season series for the fifth straight year in 2012-13, improving UAH's mark all-time against the Argos to 28-14.
 
LAST YEAR IN PENSACOLA: UAH won a 78-75 decision in a game that featured 11 ties and 10 lead changes. Andy Donovan hit a trio of 3-pointers to tally 11, while Conner Blasi was 5-for-6 from the field to score 10 as four Chargers scored in double figures.
 
VSU: The Blazers defeated UAH in the GSC tournament semifinals a season ago to gain a 24-20 edge in the all-time series, but the Chargers won both regular season meetings last year. UAH has not lost to the Blazers at The Complex since the 2009-10 season.
 
LAST YEAR IN VALDOSTA: The Chargers erased a 15-point deficit in the second half, and Xavier Baldwin scored with three seconds left in the game to produce a 79-77 victory. Jaime Smith scored 28 to lead the Chargers, while Wayne Dedrick hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points.
