Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team fell on the road Saturday, dropping a 72-69 decision to West Florida. The Chargers slip to 6-5 (2-2 Gulf South Conference), while UWF improves to 2-7 (1-2 GSC).

The loss snaps a five-year, 11-game winning streak over the Argos for UAH.

Shooting 50 percent and hitting five 3-pointers, West Florida built up as much as a nine-point advantage in the first half, and after UAH tied the contest at 31-31 with just under four minutes left in the half, the hosts would end the period on a 7-0 run to take a 38-31 lead into the locker room at the break.

In the second half with West Florida leading 43-37 with 16:37 on the clock, the Chargers would go on a strong spurt that was started by an
Andrew Donovan 3-pointer and included eight points by
Wayne Dedrick as the visitors turned the deficit into a 49-44 lead in just three minutes with a 12-1 run.

UWF responded with a 10-0 run over its own, however, to go back in front 55-49 with 9:50 left in the contest, and though the Chargers would close the gap to just two points on three occasions, West Florida would remain in front through the rest of the game.

For the day, UAH shot 39.7 percent, but the team was once again strong from beyond the arc as it connected on 10 of its 23 long-range attempts.
Ronnie Mack hit four of those 3-pointers to lead the team with 16 points, and
Wayne Dedrick joined him in double figures with 14 points.

West Florida connected on 48.2 percent of its attempts, and the Argos were led by Terrence Townes who hit five 3-pointers and scored 26. Nate Johnson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to help UWF hold a strong 44-29 edge on the glass.

The Chargers will look to bounce back from the defeat on Monday when they travel to Valdosta State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
