About the Chargers

HEATING UP: Freshman Seab Webster has started to really perform strongly of late, recording double figures in two of the last three contests as he scored 14 at Valdosta State on Monday and tallied 13 against Delta State before the holiday break. Not surprisingly, the Gurley, Ala., native also clocked his highest number of minutes in those two games as he played 31 against Delta State and 22 at VSU.

MACK FROM DOWNTOWN: Junior Ronnie Mack has established himself as one of the best 3-point shooters in the conference, and he is once again performing that way this season as he is knocking down shots from beyond the arc at a 49.4 percent clip to rank second in the league. Over the team's last four games, he is averaging 3.5 made treys per contest.

RELIABLE RESERVES: With the trio of Garrett Cosgrove, Seab Webster and Spencer Palmer leading the way, the Chargers have received terrific play from its bench, and the UAH reserves have averaged 23.4 points per game in the team's five conference contests. Palmer has made his shots fall, hitting 18 of his 23 field goal attempts, while Cosgrove has been dangerous from 3-point land, connecting on 20 of his 37 attempts. Webster has been well-rounded, averaging 5.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 16.3 minutes per game.

ALL BUNCHED UP: Things are certainly tight within the GSC early on in conference play. Delta State and Valdosta State sit on top of the standings at 4-1 and 3-1, respectively, in league action, with West Georgia and West Alabama following behind at 3-2. Three more teams – North Alabama, Lee, and Union – own 2-2 marks, while Christian Brothers and UAH check in at 2-3. West Florida (1-3) and Shorter (1-4) round out the standings.

About the Opponents

SHORTER
ABOUT THE HAWKS: Shorter enters Thursday's game with a 4-7 (1-4 GSC) record, and the team has lost four of its last five games. The team's one win during that stretch was a strong one: a 90-72 victory over North Alabama who was picked to win the league. With 87.7 points per game, the Hawks are strong offensively, but the team has also allowed 85.0 points per contest.

LEADING THE WAY: Five players are averaging double figures for Shorter including team leader Dedric Ware who is scoring nearly 19 points per game after he dropped 37 against North Alabama before Christmas. With a scoring average of 14.0 points and a rebounding average of 10.5 boards, Jordan Jacks is averaging a double-double for the Hawks.

WEST GEORGIA
ABOUT THE WOLVES: West Georgia enters play this weekend at 10-3 (3-2 GSC), and though the Wolves are perfect at home, the team is 3-3 in road contests. UWG has dropped its first two contests after the break – at Delta State and Christian Brothers – but had reeled off five straight wins prior to that including big home wins over UNA and Union.

LEADING THE WAY: Deonta Stocks is leading West Georgia with 19.8 points per game as he has paced the team offensively in each of its last four games, while Stephan Thompson (15.3 points per game) and Ryan Godfrey (10.4 points per game) also are averaging double figures. Lavon Gray leads the Wolves on the glass, grabbing an average of 7.2 rebounds per contest to go along with 8.9 points per game.

Series History

SHORTER: After sweeping the season series from the Hawks a season ago, the Chargers now own a perfect 3-0 mark against Shorter all-time.

LAST YEAR IN ROME: Ronnie Mack shot 50 percent (4-of-8) from beyond the arc to score 18 points and lead a group of four Chargers who scored in double figures in an 80-69 win a season ago at Shorter. UAH hit 12 3-pointers in the win as Wayne Dedrick hit three to also register double figures with 14 points.

WEST GEORGIA: The teams met three times last year, and with UAH winning all three contests, the Chargers moved in front in the all-time series with a 24-21 record. UAH has won nine straight against the Wolves in Huntsville with UWG's last win in the Rocket City coming in the 2003-04 season.

LAST YEAR IN HUNTSVILLE: Last year the home matchup with the Wolves was the conference opener, and the Chargers captured an 81-71 victory behind a pair of 22-point performances from Zane Campbell and Jaime Smith.
