Live VideoGSC OPENER: No. 15 UAH will play the first pair of 22 straight conference games this week when West Florida visits for the league opener on Thursday night at 7:30 prior to a visit from Valdosta State at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Chargers will take a strong 5-1 record into conference action as the squad won its first five games of the season before being tripped up Monday night at Trevecca Nazarene.

TOUGH CONFERENCE: The league was quite impressive overall in non-conference action, posting a combined 49-15 record. No team in the conference has a losing record, six teams have at least five wins, and four teams remain undefeated.

CONTINUING TO IMPRESS: Junior transfer
Preston Herring has been a stellar addition for the Chargers as the Lester, Alabama, native is shooting 70.6 percent from the floor while averaging 12.7 points per game to go along with 9.0 rebounds per contest. In the team's most recent two games, Herring has a pair of double-doubles, scoring a total of 28 points while collecting 26 boards.

STRONG D: Even after giving up a season-high 77 points to Trevecca Nazarene on Monday night, the Chargers continue to lead the GSC in scoring defense, allowing just 63.8 points per contest, and the squad is only allowing the opposition to make 40.6 percent of its shots to also pace the GSC in that category.

 ABOUT WEST FLORIDA: The Argos posted a 4-2 mark in non-conference action, winning their first four contests before falling in back-to-back games after Thanksgiving. Four UWF players are scoring in double figures, led by Erin Straughn's 16.3 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 29-15 all-time against Thursday's opponent after splitting with the Argos last season. At home against UWF a year ago, the Chargers were 81-71 winners and were led by
Seab Webster's 23-point performance. For the contest, UAH shot 54.5 percent from the field and hit 10 3-pointers.

ABOUT VALDOSTA STATE: Valdosta State is 5-1 and will open GSC play on Thursday night in Florence against North Alabama. The Blazers also tout four players who are scoring n double figures with Blake Justice's 15.3 scoring average leading the way. James Spencer has also been strong, scoring 13.5 points per game while grabbing a team-best 8.0 rebounds per night.

SERIES HISTORY: VSU owns a slight 24-21 advantage in the all-time series, and the two teams each defended their respective home courts in 2013-14. Webster was also strong against the Blazers in Huntsville last year, scoring 17 and grabbing seven rebounds while
Ronnie Mack added four 3s to tally 14 points.
