About the Chargers

  • This week marks the final two home games for seniors Conner Blasi and Andrew Donovan, and the two have seen a great deal of success during their tenure as the Chargers have been to three straight NCAA tournaments, advanced to the NCAA South Regional championship in three consecutive years, and also earned a pair of berths to the Elite Eight.
  • Blasi has been a steady shooter, registering a field goal percentage of at least 55 percent in each of his four seasons, and he would have made a strong push to join UAH's 1,000-point club had he not been unfortunately hampered by injury during his junior campaign.
  • Donovan has been known to get hot from beyond the arc, hitting a career-best four 3-pointers in the Mayor's Cup against Alabama A&M earlier this season, and he featured a strong 42.2 3-point percentage during his sophomore season.
  • The Chargers will look to protect their home court in the final two games of the regular season against Union on Thursday and North Alabama Saturday. UAH is 11-2 at home with its only setbacks coming at the beginning of the season by a combined 12 points.
  • While known for his ability to get teammates involved during the game, Greg Gardner has also stepped up his scoring as of late. The sophomore point guard is averaging just under ten points a game in the last five games on 68.2 percent shooting from the field (15-22).

About the Opponents

UNION
  • Union visits Huntsville with an 11-13 record overall and a record of 7-11 in conference play. The Bulldogs have dropped their previous three contests, including a six-point setback to Delta State 77-71. UAH will look to take advantage of a Union team that is 2-7 on the road this season.
  • Four players are averaging in double figures for the Bulldogs with Corieon Pearson leading the way at 17 points per game while also leading the team in assists with 3.9 per game.
NORTH ALABAMA
  • The Lions are currently riding a eight-game win streak with their last defeat coming against the Chargers. UNA is 17-8 overall and 11-6 in the GSC and is averaging 91.4 points per game during the streak.
  • Rashaun Claiborne leads a team that has five players average in double figure scoring. Claiborne is averaging 18 points per game and grabbing a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. Nathan Spehr is averaging 3.1 assists per contest to lead the team.
