FINALLY HOME: After a terrific 3-1 start to the season in four neutral site games, the UAH men's soccer team will finally hit the Charger Park pitch on Friday against Tennessee Temple at 7 p.m. before hosting Talladega on Sunday at 5 p.m. UAH has won two of its last three home openers, including a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over Lincoln Memorial last season in the first edition of Friday Night Football at Charger Park.
Â
BIG WINS: All three of UAH's wins this season have come against Sunshine State Conference teams, and the most recent victory was a 3-2 overtime win over then-No. 3 Rollins.
Ryo Suzuki tallied three points in the game including the game-winning strike, and the UAH defense was particularly strong last weekend as it did not allow a shot on goal from Florida Southern and only allowed a pair of goals off set pieces to the Tars.
Â
STRONG IN GOAL: Junior
Michael Winstone has seen all the action in goal for the Chargers this season, posting a 3-1 record and a goals against average of 1.22 to rank second in the league. Under his watch, UAH has posted two clean sheets which is tied for tops in the conference.
Â
ABOUT TENNESSEE TEMPLE:Â The Crusaders enter the contest at 2-4, having lost 2-0 to Georgia Gwinnett in their most recent contest. In the game prior to that, Tennessee Temple showed its ability to score goals as it recorded a 5-1 victory over Oakwood.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: UAH owns the all-time series by a 6-2-1 margin, but the two programs have not met on the pitch since the 1995 season. The first meeting came in 1974 with the Chargers posting a 6-0 shutout, starting a string of four straight clean sheets against the Crusaders.
Â
ABOUT TALLADEGA: The Tornadoes won their last time out, beating Oakwood 6-0 to move their record to 1-3 on the season.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: The series between Talladega and UAH is tied at 1-1. The Chargers won the first-ever meeting back in 2011 by a 7-0 score in a contest that featured a hat trick for
Kyle Simmons in his collegiate debut, but the Tornadoes would return to Huntsville and pick up a 2-1 victory in 2012 to level the series.
