ON THE ROAD: UAH travels for a pair of Gulf South Conference matchups this week, beginning with Valdosta State at 7 p.m. on Thursday and ending on Saturday at 4 p.m. against West Florida.

RIVALRY RECAP: A 47-point second half propelled the Chargers to an 81-72 victory on Saturday afternoon when rival North Alabama visited Huntsville. Head coach Lennie Acuff saw successful performances from Preston Herring, Ronnie Mack and Seab Webster who each contributed 18 points in the win.

LOOKING AT THE GSC: UAH sits atop the conference standings with Delta State as each team holds an 8-3 record in league play. Following the top two programs, Shorter, Union, West Alabama and West Georgia are deadlocked at 7-4 records within the GSC. The Chargers are currently one of two teams riding a four-game win streak in conference games.

ROAD IMPROVEMENT: The Chargers have picked up some steam on the road in conference matchups as the squad has won back-to-back league games on the road at Union (Jan. 10) and Christian Brothers (Jan. 12).  Overall, UAH is 3-2 in GSC road tests in the 2014-15 campaign.

SUCCESS DOWN LOW: Junior Preston Herring was spectacular in the win over UNA shooting 8-for-8 from the floor and finishing with 18 points. The Lester, Alabama native added a game-high 15 boards to give him five double-doubles this season.

AMONG THE BEST: Sophomore Seab Webster ranks fifth in the conference with an average of 17.2 points per game, while Herring leads the GSC with 9.2 rebounds per game and is fourth overall with 1.9 blocks per contest. Junior Greg Gardner currently sits at second in the league with 6.1 assists per game.

ABOUT VALDOSTA STATE: The Blazers are tied for 10th in the conference standings with a 3-8 record in league games and 8-9 overall. VSU most recently won 67-66 over West Florida in Pensacola, but fell in the previous two road contests at West Georgia and West Alabama. James Spencer paces the offense with 14.7 points per game and 7.1 boards per contest, while Colin Cook has a team-high 36 blocks. VSU shoots a collective .423 from the floor.

ABOUT WEST FLORIDA: The Argonauts sit at the bottom of the Gulf South Conference with a 2-9 record within the league. UWF is currently on a three-game losing streak, dropping road matchups at West Alabama and West Georgia and losing at home to Valdosta State. Terrence Townes, Erin Straughn and Lendward Griffin average over 10 points a game to lead the offense, with Demetrius Moore leading the rebound count with 7.3 per game.

MATCHUP HISTORIES: UAH holds an all-time series record of 22-25 against the Blazers and 30-15 against the Argos. The Chargers hosted both programs earlier this season at Spragins Hall with both ending in wins for the Blue and White.
