Box Score ST. LEO, Fla. | The 12th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team fell in an overtime thriller on Saturday, dropping a 93-90 decision to host Saint Leo on the second day of the GSC/SSC Challenge. UAH is now 1-1 on the year, while SLU improves to 2-0.

With just a minute left in regulation, junior
Brandon Roberts would give the Chargers their first lead in nearly 19 minutes when his layup made it 78-77. Tyreece Brice then had an answer from 3-point land to put the Lions back ahead by two, but a
Troy Saxton bucket and a
Preston Herring block on the ensuing possession would send the game into overtime.

The extra five minutes then featured six ties and eight lead changes, but the hosts scored five of the last seven points to secure the upset victory.

Five Chargers scored in double figures with
Seab Webster's 16 leading the way, and
Preston Herring notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds – including five on the offensive end.

Saxton had 13, and Roberts joined
Greg Gardner with 12 to round out the double-figure scoring contingent.

The pair of Gardner and Saxton helped UAH total 18 assists in the contest, dishing out six and five, respectively.

After falling behind by five at 18-13 just over five minutes into the contest, the Chargers responded by reeling off a 14-0 run that lifted the team to its largest lead of the night at nine with a 27-18 advantage at the 11:02 mark.

Saint Leo then outscored UAH 28-21 the rest of the way to make it just a 48-46 lead for the Chargers at the half, and that momentum carried over into the start of the second period as the Lions – led by Caleb Stewart's 29 points in the game – jumped out to a 61-50 lead by the time the clock read 15:44 before UAH was able to respond and whittle the deficit down in forcing overtime.

For the contest, the Lions held a slim shooting advantage over the Chargers, connecting on 45.5 percent of their attempts compared to 43.9 percent for UAH, while the visitors owned a 45-33 margin on the glass.

Saint Leo capitalized on 16 UAH turnovers, converting them into a 16-6 difference in points off of giveaways.

UAH will look to bounce back on Friday when the team takes the floor at Spragins Hall for the first time this season, welcoming Stillman for a 5 p.m. contest.
