Live Stats | Watch Live | Listen LiveBACK AT HOME: For just the third and fourth times this season, the Chargers will play at home this week, hosting West Alabama in a rematch of last year's GSC tournament championship game at 7:30 Thursday night before West Georgia visits at 4 p.m. on Saturday. UAH enters the week at 5-2 (2-0 GSC).
Â
RECAPPING LAST WEEK: UAH rebounded from its road loss at Trevecca Nazarene last Monday by knocking off West Florida on Wednesday and then outlasting Valdosta State 102-96 in overtime on Saturday to start out conference play with two strong road wins.
Â
RANKINGS UPDATE: The Chargers dropped out of the NABC poll for the first time this season (though the team did receive votes), and the squad moved back into the D2SIDA poll, checking in at No. 21.
Â
LEADING THE NATION: Senior point guard
Greg Gardner is off to a terrific start to his final campaign in the Blue and White, and the Indianapolis native currently leads all of Division II with an impressive assist-to-turnover ratio of 13.5, well ahead of the second-best mark of 9.25. He has committed just two turnovers this year and has been miscue-free in six of UAH's seven games.
Â
INCREASED SCORING: The Chargers are averaging 86.0 points per game, but that mark is only good for fifth in the league with West Georgia pacing the conference at 98.4 points per contest. A season ago, UAH's current mark would have been the top performance in the league.
Â
FROM DOWNTOWN: In the two conference games, UAH is shooting 43.2 percent from 3-point land, and that mark is good enough to rank second in the conference. For the entire season, UAH is shooting 39.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Â
ABOUT WEST ALABAMA: UWA is 3-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference play after dropping decisions in Livingston to Mississippi College and Delta State last week. Deontaye Ewing leads the Tigers with 12.6 points per contest, while Tyler Chaisson is strong on the glass with 8.6 boards per game.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers lead the all-time series against UWA 45-20 after sweeping three meetings from the Tigers last year including a win in the conference tournament final and a 63-57 victory in Huntsville.
Preston Herring had 14 in the win at Spragins Hall to lead the way.
Â
ABOUT WEST GEORGIA: UWG's high-octane offense has breached the 100-point mark three times en route to a 5-2 (2-0 GSC) record on the season, and that 2-0 start in GSC action came after home wins over Delta State and Mississippi College a week ago. Steph Branch leads a quartet of Wolves who averaging double figures as he is scoring 18.0 points per game to go along with a team-best rebounding average of 6.7.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is in front by a 25-22 margin in the all-time series against UWG after the teams split the season series last year that saw the road team win both contests. Herring had 24 in the 85-80 setback in the Rocket City.
