POLLING PLACE: The Chargers were among the top 15 in the nation across all four polls, receiving the highest mark from Perfect Game at sixth in the nation. UAH also received recognition by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (No. 10), D2 Baseball News (No.11) and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (No. 15). The Blue and White are the highest ranked of any GSC program in each poll.

GSC'S BEST: Huntsville native
Daniel Koger earned the GSC's Pitcher of the Week honor after hurling 7.0 shutout innings in the win at Lee this past weekend. Koger improved to 3-0 on the season, while striking out six and allowing six base hits.

RECENT ACTION: The Chargers added a win and a tie at No. 24 Lee this past weekend, winning the opener on Friday by a score of 2-0 and tying 1-1 after eight full innings on Saturday. The Chargers are currently tied for second in the conference standings at 3-1-1 in league games, with a 7-1-1 mark overall.

REGIONAL UPDATE: UAH sits at third in the NCAA South Region after a win and a tie at Lee this past weekend. Tampa is ranked first in the region with all seven first-place votes, while Nova Southeastern owns the second spot amongst the South Region.

SWEET SWINGING: Senior
Cody Burton paces the Chargers offense in batting average (.462), runs scored (13), walks (9), on-base percentage (.625) and slugging percentage (.808). In the weekend series at Lee, Burton went 3-for-6 with two walks and two runs scored. He is currently in the top 10 in the GSC for batting average, runs scored, triples, slugging percentage, and walk, while leading the league in on-base percentage.

ON THE BUMP: The Chargers pitching staff has combined for a 3.28 ERA over 74.0 innings this season, a mark good for second in the GSC. Koger leads the weekend staff, with battery mates
Chris Kilpatrick (2.30 ERA, 15.2 IP) and
Tyler Howell (7.37 ERA, 7.1 IP) finding their groove.
Luke Mould has been exceptional at the back end of the bullpen with a 2-0 record and four saves, while not allowing a run, hit or walk in 7.1 innings of work.

STRENGTH FROM BOTH SIDES: UAH is the only team within the GSC to be ranked in the top three for team slugging percentage (.489) and earned run average (3.28). Offensively, four regulars – Burton,
Colton Simbeck,
Trey Mathis, and
Chandler Brock – are slugging over .500 so far this season, while on the pitching side four pitchers – Koger, Mould, Kilpatrick,
Mitchell Wright - have seven-plus innings and an ERA under 3.00.

LOOKING AHEAD: UAH has five games in the upcoming week at home, beginning with Lemoyne Owen on Wednesday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. The Chargers will wrap up the week's slate with a three-game GSC series against Shorter on Saturday and Sunday at Charger Park.

MATCHUP HISTORY: UAH holds an all-time series record of 1-0 against Mississippi College, and this will be the first meeting between the two programs as members of the GSC.

CHOCTAW PROFILE: Mississippi College enters the weekend with a 7-4 overall record and 2-4 within the conference, following a series loss at home to Union this past weekend that included a 3-2, 16-inning win for the Choctaws. MC is currently batting a collective .315, led by Hunter Bolin and Logan Ferrell who are both hitting above .400 to start the season. Brooks Fortenberry leads the rotation with a 2.25 ERA over 20.0 innings pitched.
