Due to the series loss, UAH will be the second seed in the GSC Tournament and West Alabama will host the double-elimination tourney from May 2-5.
The opening matchup was tightly contested between the Chargers and Tigers through the seventh inning, as both squads' starters engaged in a pitcher's duel. Senior lefty
Daniel Koger supplied the Chargers with 6.2 innings, two runs allowed and three strikeouts, while UWA's Jorge Cruz worked 7.1 innings with two runs allowed and six strikeouts.
West Alabama went on the board first with an RBI single by Mitch Holgate in the bottom of the first inning, but the Chargers GSC Freshman of the Year Nominee,
AJ Walden, gave the Blue and White a 2-1 advantage with a two-run homer to left scoring senior
Chandler Brock on the play. The redshirt freshman now has 10 homers on the year.
After Walden's round-tripper, Koger worked five consecutive scoreless innings before the Tigers made it a 2-2 tie as Adam Chamblee was able to score on a passed ball. Senior
Luke Mould came on in relief to end the frame, but was tagged with five runs in the eighth – highlighted by a grand slam from Jack Cockrum – to bring the game to its 7-2 final. Mould's record dipped to 4-2 with the loss.
UAH managed 11 hits in the first game, led by Walden and Brock who had three hits apiece, with Brock swiping his team-leading 18th bag of the season.

Colton Simbeck each had a double in the loss.
The Chargers offense was kick-started early in the first with an RBI single to left by senior
Ryan Barnes, plating fellow senior

Trey Mathis at first.
UAH fought back to tie the contest at 2-2 as Hall scored on Barnes' double-play ground out, before UWA erupted for a five-run fourth inning, including a three-run homer by Holgate, to regain the lead at 7-2. The Tigers would go on to take a 12-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth as Cockrum hit his second grand slam of the day off UAH reliever
Wilson Adams, followed by a sacrifice fly Luigi Mendez off
Logan Crook.
Brock brought the game to its 12-3 final with his 10th home run of the season. UAH now has three different players with double-digit homers.
Mitchell Wright made the start on the mound for the Blue and White, tossing 3.1 innings with four runs, six hits, three walks and five strikeouts. The loss dropped the lefty's record to 5-1 on the year.
