THREE ON TAP THIS WEEK: The No. 9 UAH men's basketball team will close out its pre-Christmas slate this week as it plays its last non-conference game with a Monday visit to Nashville to take on Trevecca Nazarene at 5 p.m. before welcoming a pair of GSC opponents. West Georgia will visit Huntsville on Thursday with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m., and West Alabama rounds out the week with a 4 p.m. contest in the Rocket City. UAH enters the week at 5-1 (1-0 GSC).
ABILITY SPORTS NETWORK DEMO THURSDAY: At halftime of both the women's and men's games on Thursday, the Chargers will welcome UAH's Ability Sports Network to the floor for a demonstration of its wheelchair basketball team. LAST TIME OUT: UAH has been off since Dec. 4 when the team traveled to North Alabama and won 91-79. Four different players scored in double figures in the victory for the Chargers with
Brandon Roberts leading the way with 20.
CLEANING UP THE GLASS: While the Chargers will never be near the top of the offensive rebounding category, UAH has done a strong job on the other end of the floor as the team leads the GSC in defensive rebounding with 32.5 defensive rebounds per game.
Seab Webster ranks second individually in the category with 8.3 per contest on that end.
KNOCKING 'EM DOWN: Among players with enough field goals to qualify, Roberts ranks fifth in the conference in shooting percentage as he is currently hitting shots at a 51.7 percent clip. The senior is UAH's second-leading scorer with 14.0 points per contest, and he has shot better than 50 percent in four of UAH's six games.
ABOUT TREVECCA NAZARENE: The Trojans are now 3-7 after going 1-2 since visiting Huntsville back on Nov. 29, and the victory came in the team's last game when it beat McKendree 92-70 on the road on Saturday. Devin Whitfield continues to pace the team as he has 16.3 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY: With the Chargers winning 77-52 earlier this year, the series between the two programs is now tied at 8-8. In that victory for UAH, Webster was the only player to score in double figures as he recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, while 10 others players scored for the team.
ABOUT WEST GEORGIA: The defending GSC tournament champions are 3-3 on the year after snapping a three-game slide with a 94-82 win over Carver last Wednesday, and the team will open up conference play with a visit to UWA on Monday. Stephaun Branch paces the Wolves with 19.0 points per game to go along with a team-best 13 blocks and 10 steals.
SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers hold a 28-24 lead in the all-time series with UWG after taking two of the three meetings last year as UAH swept the regular season with the Wolves winning in the GSC tournament championship game. In Huntsville, UAH was a 94-84 winner in a game that saw
Tanner Finley score 17.
ABOUT WEST ALABAMA: The Tigers are 4-1 on the year, rolling off four straight wins after starting the year with a setback to Eckerd, and the team has a busy week as well with games against West Georgia and North Alabama before coming to Huntsville on Saturday. Jake Jobling is leading the team offensively, scoring 14.4 points per contest, while Gavin Robinson has a team-best 10.6 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY: The series between the two programs is now tilted in UAH's favor by a 49-21 margin after the two team's split last season with the road team winning both games. At UAH, Jobling scored 25 to help lead the Tigers to a 74-66 win.
