ONE MORE AT THE STABLE: The UAH men's basketball team will wrap up a busy five-game-in-seven-days stretch when the squad welcomes Clark Atlanta to Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Thanksgiving Eve. The Chargers enter the contest at 4-1 on the season.
Â
LAST TIME OUT: Pushing their winning streak to three games, the Chargers knocked off Tennessee Wesleyan 88-77 on Monday night as Justin Ward led the home team with 25 points in the contest.
Â
AMONG THE BEST: Thanks to a stretch of four straight with at least 20 points, UAH's leading scorer Ward also sits among the best in the Gulf South Conference early on this season as his 23.6 points per game scoring average is the third-best in the league. Ward has led the Chargers in scoring in each of the team's five games including a season-best 29 against Oakland City.
Â
LONG-RANGE ATTACK: With a stunning 71 3-pointers on the year, the Chargers are one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country as the 14.2 made per game ranks third among all Division II schools. On the year, UAH is hitting 3s at a 43.3 percent clip which is 27th in the nation.
Â
PROTECTING THE BASKETBALL: After turning it over 36 times in the season's first two games, UAH has averaged just 14 giveaways in the next three games including matching a season-low with 13 turnovers in the win over Tennessee Wesleyan. UAH also set a season-high in assists in that game with 23.
Â
ABOUT CLARK ATLANTA: The Panthers are a perfect 5-0 on the season, and the team visits Huntsville averaging nearly 87 points per game. Seven players are averaging double figures with Akil Douglas leading the way with 18.8 points per contest, and Douglas also leads CAU on the glass with 6.2 boards per contest.
Â
SERIES HISTORY: The Chargers are 2-0 all-time against the Panthers after a meeting last year in the opening round of the NCAA tournament resulted in a 96-81 victory for UAH. Six players scored in double figures for UAH in that game including Ward and Chayse Elliott who both had 14.
