ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The UAH men's basketball team is back on the hardwood this weekend, traveling to Auburn Montgomery for a 4 p.m. showdown on Saturday and then venturing to West Georgia for a 3 p.m. CST contest on Monday. The Chargers go into the weekend at 11-5 overall and 4-4 in Gulf South Conference play.
LAST TIME OUT: UAH swept its two-game homestand, knocking off then-No. 5 Christian Brothers 71-51 before throttling Union 109-90 in a game that saw UAH knock down 22 3-pointers.
AROUND THE GSC: The Chargers are presently tied for sixth in the league, sitting behind West Florida and Valdosta State who are tied for first at 6-1, third-place Christian Brothers and its 5-2 record, and Delta State and West Alabama who are both tied for fourth with a record of 5-3.
MORE ON TUESDAY: UAH's 22 successful 3-pointers in the victory over Union on Tuesday marks the highest single-game total by a GSC team this year, and the 63 percent success rate by the Chargers from beyond the arc is the best by a GSC team since Delta State connected on 65 percent of its attempts against Lee on Dec. 17, 2016.
SURGING SWALVE: Freshman
Seth Swalve presently ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 9.6 points per game after going 8-for-10 on 3-pointers on his way to scoring 28 against Union, and he is aiming to become UAH's first freshman since
Justin Ward in 2014-15 to rank in the top five in scoring on a UAH team.
HELPING HAND: Senior
Kip Owens has logged 20 assists in the past three contests to give him a team-best 60 on the season to go along with just 31 turnovers, and assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.9 ranks him in a tie for eighth in the conference.
ABOUT AUBURN MONTGOMERY: The Warhawks will welcome UAH as owners of a 6-8 overall record, a 2-5 mark in GSC play, and a 1-2 record in home contests. AUM is in the transition process to become a Division II member, and though games against the Warhawks count in the conference standings, the institution is not yet eligible for postseason play. The team is led offensively by Desmond DeRamus who is one of four players averaging double figures with 15.7 per contest.
SERIES HISTORY: UAH is 18-19 all-time against AUM, and the two programs last met back on Nov. 26, 2011.
ABOUT WEST GEORGIA: The Wolves enter this weekend at an even 7-7 overall mark and are 2-5 in GSC play, and the squad is tough in Carrollton, going 5-1 on its home floor. Paul Turner and Marquill Smith are leading UWG, scoring an impressive 21.0 and 20.2 points per game, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY: UAH holds a 29-25 advantage all-time against West Georgia after the road team won both meetings last year. In Carrollton, four Chargers scored in double figures in a 95-90 victory.
