UAH Combines for Three NCAA Provisional Marks in Indoor Opener

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's and women's track & field teams opened the 2020 indoor campaign at the UAB Vulcan Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex, as the squads combined for three NCAA provisional marks.
 
Women's Notables
- Jade Johnson topped the NCAA provisional standard in the triple jump at the Vulcan Invite with second-place mark of 11.70 meters. She ranks 19th nationally in the triple jump after Saturday's performance.
- Serenity Andrus garnered third overall in the 400 meter with a time of 57.67.
 
Men's Notables
- In his first career collegiate competition, Wilson McClain notched an NCAA provisional time in the 60-meter hurdles as he clocked in for second place at 8.10 in the final round. He was also the highest-finishing collegiate competitor in the race.
- McClain's finals time of 8.10 breaks the program record of 8.58 in 60-meter hurdles, set by Austin Caudle in the 2017 season.
- Zach Hancock opened his junior campaign with a first-place hurl of 17.49 meters in the shot put, which is an NCAA provisional mark. Hancock out-threw all competitors by at least 1.62 meters on Saturday, as he now ranks sixth nationally in the shot put.
