BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly men's track & field honorees, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by
Zach Hancock GSC Field Athlete of the Week and
Wilson McClain as GSC Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week.

This is the second week in a row both players have earned weekly honors, as Hancock now boasts six career GSC Field Athlete of the Week awards.

A native of Madison, Alabama, Hancock broke the program record and topped the NCAA provisional standard at the Emory Crossplex Invite on Sunday with a first-place toss of 17.98 meters in the weight throw, which gives him a ranking of 17th nationally and first in the South Region this season.

He additionally placed first in the shot put at 17.60 meters, topping the NCAA provisional mark in that event as well.

McClain had another strong performance in the 60-meter hurdles this past Sunday with a first-place time of 8.26 in the final round. He also generated a time of 8.18 in the preliminary round, which bests the NCAA provisional time of 8.21.

The Chargers are away from competition this upcoming weekend before the South Alabama Invite on Feb. 2 in Birmingham.
