BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly men's track & field award winners, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Zach Hancock as GSC Field Athlete of the Week and Wilson McClain as GSC Freshman of the Week.
 
This is Hancock's eighth career GSC Field Athlete of the Week award, while McClain notches his fourth GSC Freshman of the Week honor of 2020.
 
A Madison, Alabama, native, Hancock moved up to 11th nationally in the weight throw with a program-record and NCAA provisional hurl of 19.67 meters at the South Carolina Invitational, finishing second overall in the event.
 
McClain reset the program record and notched an NCAA provisional time in 60-meter hurdles with a fifth-place time of 8.00 at the South Carolina Invitational. He now ranks eighth nationally in 60-meter hurdles.
 
The Chargers look ahead to the 2020 Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham next Tuesday and Wednesday.
