HUNTSVILLE | The Gulf South Conference announced its men's basketball weekly award winners on Tuesday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville's
Sam Orf has been selected as the West Division Co-Player of the Week.
Â
This marks the second time this season that Orf has been honored, and the Chargers have had someone earn recognition following each week in which the team has competed this season, racking up five awards so far.
Â
In last weekend's road sweep at Delta State, Orf averaged 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 50 percent against the Statesmen. After scoring nine and grabbing six boards in the opener on Friday, the senior turned around and finished just one off his career high with 27 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists, and a steal in the Saturday victory. Providing his team with a cushion it would need to secure the win, he scored UAH's final nine points of the game.
Â
On the season, Orf ranks fifth in the GSC with 18.0 points per contest, and his 53.5 percent field goal mark is also the fifth-best in the conference.Â
Â
Orf and his teammates will be back in action this weekend at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall, welcoming in West Alabama for a two-game set that begins on Friday with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.
Â
Single-game tickets for this weekend's contests are available for purchase.
