BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its final weekly men's and women's track & field honorees for the 2021 indoor season, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Zach Hancock as GSC Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Zakiria Holifield as GSC Women's Freshman of the Week.
 
Both Hancock and Holifield notched their third time being honored with their respective awards this season.
 
Hancock – A Madison, Alabama, native – finished first overall in both the shot put at 17.80 meters and the weight throw at 18.28 meters at the Kentucky Collegiate Invitational over the weekend. His toss in the shot put was a season best and moves him up to eighth nationally.
 
Holifield placed first overall in the 200 meter with a time of 25.36 at the Kentucky Collegiate Invitational while also earning fifth in the 60 meter with a time of 7.98.
