BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly men's outdoor track & field award winners on Wednesday morning, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by
Zach Hancock as GSC Field Athlete of the Week and
Wilson McClain as GSC Freshman of the Week.

This is the second time this season Hancock and McClain have garnered GSC weekly awards.

A native of Madison, Alabama, Hancock broke a trio of program records at the Mississippi State Bulldog relays as he placed first in the discus at 55.87 meters, second in the shot put at 18.14 meters and third in the hammer at 54.60 meters.

Hancock additionally improved his standing nationally to fifth in the shot put and third in the discus, while leading the GSC in shot put, discus and hammer throw.

McClain eclipsed the program record and improved his standing nationally for the second weekend in a row in 110 meter hurdles with a fourth-place time of 14.09 at the Mississippi State Bulldog Relays. He now ranks third nationally in 110 meter hurdles.
