UAH Men Capture 2021 GSC Championship, Women Finish Second

MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's track & field team captured the program's third Gulf South Conference Outdoor Championship on Saturday on the campus of Montevallo, while the UAH women's team finished second overall.
 
Men's Notables
-Zach Hancock was named the GSC Outdoor Championships Most Outstanding Field Performer with first-place finishes in the discus, shot put and hammer.
-Jared Tittle notched a GSC individual title in the javelin with a toss of 57.88 meters.
-Hunter Nails garnered Second Team All-GSC honors with a second-place finish in the 1500 meter at 3:51.48.
-Wilson McClain notched an individual championship with a first-place finish in 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.04.
-Tyrique Davis-Giles became an individual champion in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.52.
 
Women's Notables
-Serenity Andrus generated a first-place time of 55.29 in the 400 meter.
-Zakiria Holifield found herself on the podium in a pair of events with a second-place time of 24.29 in the 200 meter in addition to a third-place finish in the 100 meter at a time of 11.93.
-Holifield was named the GSC Outdoor Championships Most Outstanding Freshman for her overall performance this weekend.
-The Chargers 100 meter relay team of Oatman, Jasity White, Holifield and Andrus finished first overall at 46.27.
- Kaylee Stewart notched a second-place time of 17:57.83 in the 5000 meter, as she became a Second Team All-GSC honoree.
