BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly men's track & field honorees on Wednesday morning, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Zach Hancock as GSC Field Athlete of the Week.
 
This is the seventh time Hancock has been named GSC Field Athlete of the Week in the indoor season.
 
Hancock had a strong opening to the 2022 indoor season at the Vanderbilt Commodore Challenge over the weekend, posting NCAA provisional marks in both the shot put and weight throw.
 
Both of his throws finished in the top four at the meet, garnering second in the shot put at 17.10 meters and fourth in the weight throw at 18.48 meters. He now ranks ninth nationally in the shot put and 21st in the weight throw.
 
UAH looks ahead to the KMS Invitational on Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama.
