BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly men's basketball award winners, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by
Chaney Johnson as GSC Player of the Week for the third consecutive week.

This is also the third time Johnson has earned the award in his career.

A native of Alabaster, Alabama, Johnson guided the Chargers to their GSC-opening win over Auburn Montgomery on Saturday at Spragins Hall with a team-high 25 points to go along with nine rebounds.

The sophomore went 7-for-8 from the field and 9-for-11 on free throws in his stellar offensive performance, while also notching a team-high three steals and one block defensively.

He is now atop the GSC through five games this season with 20.6 points per game, and he is also fifth in the league with 5.8 rebounds per game.

UAH steps out of conference play on Tuesday night at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall for a 7 p.m. matchup against Toccoa Falls, before returning to GSC action on Saturday at Montevallo at 4 p.m.
