HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's track & field team moved into the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national rankings at No. 19 in this week's ratings reveal.

The Chargers men's squad is also ranked first in the South Region ratings, while the UAH women are fourth regionally this week.

UAH has recorded a total of five individual marks so far this season that rank in the top 15 nationally, including
Michael Gizzi in the 60 meter (4th, 6.75) and 200 meter (13th, 21.51),
Wilson McClain in 60-meter hurdles (3rd, 7.90), and
Zach Hancock in the shot put (10th, 17.59 meters) and weight throw (13th, 19.30 meters).

The squad's distance medley relay team of
Jacob Bishop,
Jeremiah Dervis,
Jay Day and
Jack Elliott are also in the top 15 nationally at 11th with a time of 10:07.03.

Within the South Region, UAH has the top performance in a total of seven events.

On the women's side, the Chargers have the region's top pole vaulting height by
Emee Baldwin at 3.35 meters, while
Ronni VanZant (pentathlon, 3077 points) and Kystalynn Oatman (60 meters, 7.66) own the second-best marks in the South Region.

UAH is back in action on Sunday at the South Alabama Invitational, which will be the final tune-up for the Chargers prior to the 2022 Gulf South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 15-16.
