The possibilities for postseason seeding remain up in the air with the Chargers able to finish anywhere from fourth – which would mean a home game in the GSC tournament – or out of the tournament field, but one thing is certain: a win secures the team's spot in the postseason.
Â
As the Chargers push towards their goal of reaching play in March, they will do so behind their leaders that include a quartet of players scoring in double figures.
Chaney Johnson leads that group, shooting 58.8 percent on the year on his way to scoring 16.7 points per contest, while
CJ Williamson is right behind with 15.7 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per contest, a 56.5 percent shooting mark, and a team-high 81 assists.
Â
Both are in the top 10 in the league in scoring with Johnson at fourth and Williamson ranking seventh, and they are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the league in field goal percentage.
Â
UAH will be looking to avenge three losses from earlier in the season in all three games as the team fell 84-83 in overtime on Dec. 2 at Delta State, 73-70 on Dec. 4 at Mississippi College, and 87-71 on Feb. 3 at Valdosta State.
Â
Tuesday's opponent has struggled since that win, dropping five straight to move the Blazers to 11-14 (7-11 GSC) on the year, and VSU is just 3-8 on the road. Jacolbey Owens is scoring 14.9 points per contest to sit atop the VSU offensive ledger.
Â
MC plays on Monday night against Lee and goes into that contest at 7-16 (5-12 GSC), and the Choctaws are winners of three of their last four outings. With 14.5 points per contest, Tradavis Thompson leads Mississippi College offensively.
Â
Entering the last week of the regular season at 10-14 (9-9 GSC) is Delta State who have dropped a pair after reeling off three straight wins just prior. Airen Brooks is leading the Statesmen both with 15.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per outing.
Â
UAH is 27-32 all-time against the Blazers, and the Chargers are seeking their first win at home in the series since the 2015-16 season. Against MC, the Chargers are 11-6 in the overall series and have won seven straight in Huntsville, while UAH holds a slim 23-22 edge against Delta State and owns a six-game winning streak at home to the Statesmen.
