ALLENDALE, Mich. | The 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships started off on Thursday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville's day was highlighted by
Michael Gizzi finals-qualifying performance in the 100-meter dash.

Gizzi posted a time of 10.27 in the 100-meter sprint on Thursday afternoon, which was good for fourth place and a spot to compete on Saturday at 2:25 p.m. CT.

He will additionally compete tomorrow in the 200-meter dash preliminaries.

UAH competed in two more events on Thursday, as the Chargers women's 4x100-meter relay squad of
Chelsie Burnett,
Zakiria Holifield,
Chandler Robinson and
Ronni VanZant placed 14th with a time of 47.65 and
Jacob Bishop placed 17th in the 3000-meter steeplechase at a time of 9:15.23.

An additional two Chargers will compete on Friday along with Gizzi, including
Zach Hancock in the discus at 1 p.m. CT and
Wilson McClain in 110-meter hurdles prelims at 5:35 p.m.
